Expression Work

I’ve been feeling like my expressions have gotten a bit stale/stiff lately, and I think it’s because I have a tendency to draw characters’ faces last, forcing me to cram their features into whatever space is left after I’ve finished the rest of the pose.

So I’m trying a new thing where I draw the face first and fit the head around it. So far I’m liking the results.

Furcifer City Color Chart

As I’ve been working on Furcifer City, I’ve realized that the “simple” color scheme I’ve been using has turned out to be a bit more complicated than I had initially realized. Specifically in regard to how the color of objects changes depending on when/how a character is interacting with them. So I came up with a little chart to cover the most common types of object interactions that might happen.

This is mostly for my own reference in order to maintain consistency, but I thought it might be cool to share.
