Panel 1
We return to Gertrude's private room. Gertrude stands behind Theo, who is sitting at the table absently playing with his food.
Gertrude: "…your Aunt Gale joined a group that takes in stray cats."
Panel 2
A close up of Theo's face, looking miserable and distracted. A forkfull of food held uneaten in his hand.
Gertrude [off panel]: "Apparently, feral cats are bad for the sparrow population."
Panel 3
Theo looks at his food distractedly, not really hearing what his grandmother is saying.
Gertrude: "Or wrens? I ~~~"
Her dialogue becomes illegible as Theo no longer listens to her.
Panel 4
Gertrude [off panel]: "Teddy, is something wrong?"
Theo snaps back to attention.
Theo: "Huh?"
Panel 5
Gertrude places her hand on Theo's shoulder, a look of mild concern on her face.
Gertrude: "You've been so quiet. Even for you."
Theo is unable to meet her gaze.
Panel 6
We see a closeup of Theo's plate, the food, drawn in loving detail by someone who enjoys drawing food maybe too much(?), is largely untouched.
Gertrude [off panel]: "You've barely touched your food."
Panel 7
Theo looks around nervously, trying to think of some excuse that doesn't involve admitting that he feels super ashamed of having been sent to hell, probably for excessive masturbation.
Theo: "Oh, uh – I ate a lot at the…"
Panel 8
Theo: "The big, you know…"
Theo gestures with his hand, trying and failing to remember of the word "plaza."
Panel 9
Gertrude looks down at Theo, infinite patience upon her smling face.
Panel 10
Theo looks away.
Theo: "They had a lot of food downstairs."
